Laguna de Salinas- shared van
Hike in the Laguna de Salinas takes you to salt flats lake located at 4300 MASL in the Arequipa Region, in South Peru and is part of the Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve. Laguna de Salinas is considered one of the most beautiful landscapes in Peru Andes. As well as the beautiful scenery you will experience the local wildlife such as Vicuñas, Alpacas, Foxes and a selection of migratory birds including flamingos. This white salt is similar to the Salar de Uyuni during dry season and offers a nice view of the laguna in wet season.
Description
Pick up between 6:00 to 6:30AM from the hotel, hostel or Airbnb in Arequipa city center. We will pass through Chiguata village, where we will watch pre Inca terraces and a colonial church. We will continue our trip to Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, watching along the way queñuales forest, Pichupichu (5664 MASL) and Misti volcano (5822 MASL).
Arrive to Salinas Lagoon after 3 hours travelling by private car, we will admire the nature and wildlife: vizcachas, alpacas, vicuñas, andean ducks, hummingbirds and 3 kind of flamingos:
Phoenicopterus Chilensis (chilean flamingo)
Phoenicoparrus andinus (andean flamingo – parihuana)
Phoenicoparrus jamesi (parina chica o chururu)
Salinas Lagoon Tour includes trekking activities during dry season (june to december) we will walk from one to other side of the lagoon for getting amazing pictures and wathing local people collecting salt also known as borato. Picnic time (Bring snacks, water) and return to Arequipa city.
Return to the city center and drop off near the Plaza de Armas Around 13:30 Hrs.
