Day 1: Uros Islands and Amantani

Between 7.40 am and 8 am Transfer from the hotel to the port and by motorboat, we take you to one of the legendary Uros Islands, where you can observe the lives of the Uros people who live on floating reed islands, some only 20 meters in length. After a beautiful 3hr boat ride we reach Amantani island where we will break into smaller groups to stay with the local families. You have the opportunity to trek to the top of the mountain (4150 meters) to see the Temples of the Pachamama and Pachatata and enjoy the traditional customs of the island people. Food and authentic music prepared and performed by your designated family.

Day 2: Taquile Island – Puno

 

After breakfast we take a short boat ride to the neighboring Taquile island, where we will tour around the ruins and visit these beautiful people, world-famous for their intricate and fascinating weavings, After lunch, we make the return trip to Puno. Arrival in the afternoon and transfer back to your hotel approx 5 pm. End of service.

What should I bring to the tour?

A light backpack, water, sunscreen (very important!), a hat, camera and sunglasses are a must. Those who plan to stay longer/ overnight should also bring: warm layers, sweater or jacket (very important), beanies, scarves (temperatures can reach lows of -10 ̊ C), basic things like toilet paper, snacks, personal medications, money for drinks/food/tips etc.

Does the tour include a ride on one of the traditional reed boats?

No, this experience is optional and can be paid directly to the locals on the island.

Do the tour prices include the island entry fees? Do I need to take extra money?

Yes, all of the tour prices include the associated island entry fees. If you will be heading to the islands of Taquile and Amantani we advise you to take some money for souvenirs as they are renowned for some of the finest woven goods in Peru.

Cancellation Policy

CHANGES: Any changes to the tour date need to be done before 5:00 pm the day before the tour begins.

NO SHOWS & CANCELLATIONS: If you cancel the day prior to the tour before 5:00 pm (Lima time) or earlier, a 10% administration fee (+ the card fee) will apply. After this time, there is a 100% no-show or cancellation fee.
